Devotional — “The Shepherd’s Voice”
Psalm 23 & John 10:1–10
There are so many voices in our world—loud ones, urgent ones, fearful ones. Some promise life but leave us empty. Some sound convincing but lead us into worry or weariness. Jesus knows this, which is why He calls Himself both the Good Shepherd and the Gate. He is the One who leads us in and out, who guards our rest, who guides our steps, who calls us by name.
Psalm 23 reminds us that the Shepherd’s voice is never harsh or hurried. It is the voice that leads us beside still waters, restores our souls, and walks with us through every valley. It is the voice that protects, provides, and prepares a place for us—even in the presence of what threatens us.
In John 10, Jesus tells us that His sheep follow Him because they know His voice. They don’t follow strangers. They don’t chase every noise. They listen for the One who brings life—abundant life.
Today, pause long enough to listen.
Let the Shepherd’s voice rise above the noise.
Let His words steady your heart, quiet your fears, and guide your steps.
Because the One who calls you by name is the same One who leads you to green pastures, guards you from harm, and opens the way to life that is full, deep, and overflowing.
Listen for Him. He is already speaking.
