Today's scheduled scripture reading was Ruth 1:1-18. As I sit here at home during the snowstorm, I wanted to reflect on who Ruth is to me & how her story resonates with my life.
Rooted in Redemption: A Simple Devotional from Ruth
I’ve been sitting with the story of Ruth this week, and honestly, it hits a little differently when life feels uncertain. Ruth had every reason to walk away from Naomi and start over somewhere easier. But instead, she said:
**“Where you go, I will go.” — Ruth 1:16**
That wasn’t fancy or poetic for her — it was real life. She was choosing loyalty, choosing love, choosing God… even when she had no clue what tomorrow would look like.
And I think that’s why her story still speaks to us. Most of the time, faith isn’t about big dramatic moments. It’s about the small, everyday choices to stay faithful when it would be easier to quit.
What This Looks Like for Me Today
**Where is God inviting me to stay faithful**
I feel Him nudging me to keep showing up in the places that feel slow or unnoticed. To stay steady instead of rushing ahead. I feel God trying to heal my brokenness and to sit still and reflect during my anxious moments, when I would otherwise worry.
**Is there a relationship or commitment that needs some renewed devotion**
I feel like God’s reminding me to lean back in with patience and grace instead of letting frustration take over.
**How might my small choices matter in God’s bigger story**
I’m realizing that even the things that feel tiny — a kind word, a quiet prayer, a choice to stay — can be part of something God is weaving that I can’t see yet.
A Simple Prayer
God, help me stay faithful in the small things today. Give me strength to keep loving, keep trusting, and keep walking with You even when the path feels unclear. Amen.
We would love to hear from you:
